There aren’t a lot of beaches in Jacksonville where you can drive your car on the sand.
Huguenot Beach is one of the only places where you can take your car out to the beach.
I like going to Huguenot Beach because of this reason. When I pack my car with all of the supplies for the day, I want them close. I hate having to walk all of my supplies a half a mile from the parking lot to the beach. It’s like a lot of other local Jacksonville beaches, especially down by 1st street. There are times when I will go to Hanna park, because they have a nice beach area too. The place has a lake for fishing and access to the beach. Huguenot Beach is still my favorite. My friends and I went to the beach last Sunday and we were there all day. I got quite a bit of sun. I thought I applied enough sunscreen, but my arms were red when I got home at the end of the day. I laid down on the bed and fell asleep quickly. I woke up about an hour later and my whole body was stiff. I got a shower, but that didn’t help much at all. I stood in front of the air conditioner and that helped cool down my skin. The air conditioner was so cold that it almost gave me chills. I had a lot of trouble regulating my body temperature after I got the sunburn. Thank goodness the problems only lasted about 24 hours.
