After years and years of wanting to learn how to ice skate, I finally made some strides towards doing it, then i grew exhausted of seeing our youngsters and hubby skate while I sat on the sidelines! So, recently, I signed up for ice skating lessons at this local sporting facility in town.

It’s a good alternative to going to the playground or park when the weather is sizzling outside, and living in Waldorf, which is in Southern MD, the weather is a tad bit warmer than some of the other places in the state, plus, the people I was with and I are landlocked, which means the people I was with and I usually experience moderate and muggy temperatures in the Summer, and that can get quite uncomfortable, so it’s nice to have the indoor sporting facility that has heating and cooling throughout the year… Of course, the ice rink part is consistently cold, so when I take our lessons, I will need to bundle up… The good news is, I can easily walk to another part of the facility that will have some form of heating where I can moderate up, and my youngsters appreciate staying at home in their comfortable air conditioner and heating, however they don’t mind doing activities away from home as long as they are in a comfortable space. And by comfortable space I mean, a place that has adequate heating and cooling where they can play without complaining about being too sizzling or too cold.

I have wanted a heat pump system for a long time.

In NY, it is mainly cold. If the temps reach under 40 degrees, the heating function of the heat pump is basically useless, however a majority of the year I wouldn’t be able to use the heat pump, so much for energy savings right? I also would use the heating function until it got bitterly frigid in late fall. Then the gas gas furnace would tag in & begin heating. I would never go separate from moderate air. The system automatically changes from electric to gas, from heat pump to gas furnace. I don’t have to flip a switch or remember to click a button. The best area is that the system wants to be energy smart. So whenever a heat pump is able to tag in, it will. I wish I could just have 1 system & be done with it. A dual fuel system is technically a single unit, then however, it does require a lot of moving parts & service. Since I live in such a frigid area, that is the best I can have.
