After years and years of wanting to learn how to ice skate, I finally made some strides towards doing it.
I grew tired of watching my kids and husband skate while I sat on the sidelines. So, recently, I signed up for ice skating lessons at this local sporting facility in town. It’s called the Capital Clubhouse, and it’s a recreation and sporting complex that has lots of fun family-friendly activities. It’s a great facility for kids and grown ups alike, and I like it because it’s open year-round and even offers Summer camp for the little ones. It’s a great alternative to going to the playground or park when the weather is hot outside. Living in Waldorf, which is in Southern Maryland, the weather is a tad bit warmer than some of the other places in the state. Plus, we are landlocked, which means we usually experience warm and muggy temperatures in the Summer. And that can get quite uncomfortable, so it’s nice to have the indoor sporting facility that has heating and cooling throughout the year. Of course, the ice rink area is always cold, so when I take my lessons, I will need to bundle up. The good news is, I can easily walk to another part of the facility that will have some form of heating where I can warm up. My kids love staying at home in their comfortable air conditioning and heating, but they don’t mind doing activities away from home as long as they are in a comfortable space. And by comfortable space I mean, a place that has adequate heating and cooling where they can play without complaining about being too hot or too cold.
