In Phoenix, Arizona people don’t realize that there are cold afternoons; Yes, during the afternoons it is intensely warm no matter the time of year.
However, there are certain times of the year the afternoons can drop into the 40s, and for the most part I worry about cooling, and i have invested in top of the line cooling unit plus I make sure to get it officially ran tests on.
For heating I use a heat pump system, however the machine can do both heating plus cooling. The heat pump is only tagged in during the afternoons. I have an indoor air handler in each of the kitchens. The heat pump only provides heating to those rooms. There is no reason to heat the rest of the house. I will save some money plus my machine will live longer! During the day the AC is laboring for the entire space since we are everywhere. The heating zone control was worth every penny spent, then being able to customize the heating settings is just so convenient! Each of my kids have their own thermostat too; My daughter is regularly blasting the heating system in her room while most afternoons my kid doesn’t even bother to turn on the heating equipment. I don’t know why people wouldn’t invest in zone control when they live in Phoenix, Arizona. It makes sense since the weather doesn’t get cold until late at night plus it only lasts a few hours. Don’t live uncomfortably however don’t cut the bank to heat the whole house.
