Hydronic heating in Lowell is perfect

It gets cold in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The year round weather is typically in the lower degrees.

It isn’t unusual for the nights to be in the teens and the daytime weather to be in the 30s. The summer season is short, underwhelming, and not that hot. I don’t even bother with AC living in Lowell. It just isn’t needed. My family and I are all about heating. I recently splurged to hook piping up to my boiler system. The pipes then were installed within my new floorboards. As the boiler system heats water, the hot water flows through the pipes to create a heating effect. This is known as hydronic heating or heated floors. I love having heated floors since the heat stays where you want it. The heat being water based means nothing is rising to the ceiling and there are no hot and cold spots. Due to those factors, you can lower the temperature a few notches since the house feels warmer. This then saves on the monthly energy bills. Another benefit is that the system is silent in operation. I don’t even notice it is on. What I do notice is that anything touching the flooring feels heated. Our beds, couches, chairs, and other furniture have a warm feel. My cat especially loves that we upgraded to hydronic heating in our Massachusetts home. I am debating on going one step further and adding the piping to our driveway. This will then become a snowmelt system. That means no shoveling off the car anymore. Can you imagine how nice that would be?
