Lee’s Summit, Missouri, is a metropolitan city outside of the Kansas City region.

• It has been ranked as one of the best places to live in the whole country.

There are lots of different employers in the area such as the school system, hospital, medical center, and homeland security. My wife and I decided to move our family to Lee’s Summit, Missouri, after I got a job working in Kansas city. I took over as VP of sales for a well known HVAC company. The HVAC company has lost 8% growth this year and the owner wants answers for the bleeding. The HVAC business has branches in Kansas City, Lee’s Summit, and Cape Girardeau. It was too far to commute from our old address, so we were thinking about moving to Kansas city. Unfortunately, the price of real estate was much more expensive than we anticipated. When we started looking at some of the regions outside of the city, we ran into Lee’s summit, one of the biggest cities in all of Cass and Jackson counties. We looked at several houses that were within our price range and some of them were close to the medical center. My wife was going to try to work part-time at the medical center and our geographical location worked out great for that. We picked out a three-bedroom and two and a half bathroom house and found a nice neighborhood. Our neighbors are unusually quiet and they keep to themselves. In the morning we have squirrels and birds on the deck and the patio. It’s one of the nicest places you could live in the whole state.

The owner of the Phoenix HVAC business where I work does not hire good employees to work at the shop.

I don’t know if someone else is screening applicants, but the guys are never the cream of the crop.

The last couple of guys have really been duds. One guy couldn’t come to work on time and he always complained if we sent him out alone to work on a heat pump or AC repair. The boss ended up getting rid of that guy one week later. After that, we used staff from the agency in town. They were vetted by the staffing agency, so the boss didn’t have to worry. The owner of the Phoenix HVAC business just hired another new guy, but I think this one is going to work out. The new guy is named George and he has a lot of experience with commercial and residential HVAC repairs. The guy is older than most of us and he has been around for a while. He recently moved to Phoenix with his wife and children. That guy was living in the Pacific Northwest before moving to Phoenix. I honestly hope this guy works out. He could be a nice addition to our team.
